THE NEW MYSTO IS NOW IN STOCK which is a brand new boat with a new look. Whether you want to surf the waves or go paddling on a river or lake, this is a performance sit-on-top designed to have universal appeal. "The new Mysto is a great all-rounder for the family who want a really fun boat," said the designer Spike Gladwin. "The styling is a departure from the traditional shape of sit-on-top - and it's something very different from Ocean Kayak." The new Mysto has a sleek new hull shape but the craft remains very stable and efficient to paddle whatever your size or weight. Both adults and children can enjoy the Mysto. "Dads can use it, and even one of the kids can jump on with him," commented Spike. Of course being built by Ocean Kayak, the world's number one when it comes to sit-on-tops, the Mysto is lightweight and strong. length 9'9" (3m), beam 31" (0.79m), weight 43 pounds (19.5kg) with a maximum capacity of between 19 to 23 stone (125-147kg) depending on the conditions. Included in the design are some clever new features and in addition to the skeg, there are two small fins at the back of the boat to give additional tracking. "The bottom of the hull is shaped partly like a surf board, so at the beach even beginners will be able to surf waves," said Spike. The main skeg also has a sacrificial plastic pad to protect the hull if the boat is dragged. When the pad is worn it can simply be replaced. Other features include self draining scuppers, moulded-in foot wells and moulded-in handles at the front and the sides. The Mysto is easy to carry and easy to climb back on board if you've been for a swim. There are also moulded-in tank wells at the front and back of the boat for storage and a moulded-in backrest, or you can use the integral anchor points to fit the backrest of your choice. Paddles can also be stowed in the length of the boat when not in use. The Mysto is maintenance free, easily car toppable and very compact to store. Ocean Kayaks are constructed of Linear, medium-density polyethylene (PE) which is virtually indestructable under normal use. Being somewhat flexible, PE gives on impact, which keeps it from cracking, but maintains its stiffness using Ocean Kayak's compound curves. Polyethylene is also very abrasion-resistant, but in the event you scratch or gouge your Ocean Kayak, linear PE is repairable. Included in the price is a backrest for your paddling pleasure.
